Non pas parce que je rentrais du\u00a0Ministry of Sound ou du White Horse, mais parce que, comme beaucoup de mes voisins anglais, je souhaitais conna\u00eetre les r\u00e9sultats du BREXIT.<\/p>\n<\/header>\n<div class=\"prose\">\n<p>Quelques jours plus t\u00f4t, ma fille de 8 ans me demandait \u00ab\u00a0Papa, est-ce que l&rsquo;on va rester ou partir ?\u00a0\u00bb, ce \u00e0 quoi j&rsquo;ai simplement r\u00e9pondu \u00ab\u00a0Bien s\u00fbr que l&rsquo;on va rester\u00a0\u00bb en pensant que le <strong>biais du Status quo<\/strong> est g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement tr\u00e8s fort et que les gens pr\u00e9f\u00e8rent\u00a0garder les choses comme elles sont&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Cette conviction que le Royaume-Uni allait rester dans l&rsquo;Europe \u00e9tait renforc\u00e9e par les news et publications sur le sujet, comme cette photo :<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"center aligncenter\" src=\" https:\/\/www.convertize.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/brexit-neuromarketing-politics-1.jpeg\" width=\"590\" height=\"348\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Le camp du \u00ab\u00a0Remain\u00a0\u00bb jouait tr\u00e8s bien avec le <strong>besoin de certitude<\/strong> (need for certainty), et donc avec les \u00e9motions.<\/p>\n<p>J&rsquo;\u00e9tais convaincu du fait que les\u00a0<strong>Electeurs se comportent comme les consommateurs\u00a0<\/strong>: ils comparent, ils \u00e9valuent mais, \u00e0 la fin, ce sont leurs \u00e9motions qui d\u00e9cident, et non pas les (quelques) \u00e9l\u00e9ments factuels et rationnels utilis\u00e9s par chaque camp.<\/p>\n<p>L&rsquo;apr\u00e8s-midi du 23 j&rsquo;ai vu que les <strong>march\u00e9s<\/strong> donnaient un boost positif \u00e0 la Livre Sterling :<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"center aligncenter\" src=\" https:\/\/www.convertize.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/brexit-neuromarketing-politics-2.jpeg\" width=\"495\" height=\"400\" \/><\/p>\n<p>et les<strong> sondages<\/strong>\u00a0montraient aussi que le gagnant serait\u00a0\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0Stay\u00a0\u00bb :<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"center aligncenter\" src=\" https:\/\/www.convertize.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/brexit-neuromarketing-politics-3.jpeg\" width=\"590\" height=\"465\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mais j&rsquo;\u00e9tais sans doute en train de chercher des \u00e9l\u00e9ments pour <strong>confirmer ce que je pensais<\/strong>&#8230; Pour \u00eatre coh\u00e9rent avec ce biais, voici d&rsquo;ailleurs ce que j&rsquo;ai pens\u00e9 quand j&rsquo;ai vu un scan du bulletin de vote du BREXIT : <strong><em>ils jouent\u00a0astucieusement\u00a0avec le Primacy Effect,\u00a0ils ont plac\u00e9\u00a0\u00ab\u00a0Remain\u00a0\u00bb en 1er sur la liste\u00a0:<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"center aligncenter\" src=\" https:\/\/www.convertize.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/brexit-neuromarketing-politics-4.jpeg\" width=\"590\" height=\"350\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Avant d&rsquo;aller me coucher, mon fils m&rsquo;a demand\u00e9 \u00ab\u00a0Pourquoi tu penses que l&rsquo;on va rester\u00a0?\u00a0\u00bb et j&rsquo;ai r\u00e9pondu avec un sourire \u00a0\u00ab\u00a0<strong>Parce que je connais les gens<\/strong>, je sais comment ils prennent leurs d\u00e9cisions\u00a0\u00bb.<\/p>\n<p>La photo d&rsquo;ensemble me semblait tr\u00e8s claire : la <strong>peur de perdre<\/strong>\u00a0(Loss aversion) \u00e9tait trop forte pour que les anglais prennent des risques en quittant\u00a0l&rsquo;Europe\u00a0!<\/p>\n<p>Mais quelques heures plus tard&#8230; vous savez ce qu&rsquo;il s&rsquo;est pass\u00e9, j&rsquo;ai vu \u00e7a :<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"center aligncenter\" src=\" https:\/\/www.convertize.com\/fr\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/brexit-neuromarketing-politics-5.jpeg\" width=\"590\" height=\"332\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Comment cela \u00e9tait-il\u00a0possible ?! J&rsquo;\u00e9tais absolument convaincu d&rsquo;avoir l&rsquo;analyse parfaite de la situation et pourtant\u00a0<strong>je me suis tromp\u00e9<\/strong>&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>Eh bien, j&rsquo;ai simplement fait ce que les experts\u00a0du Marketing font souvent : j&rsquo;ai n\u00e9glig\u00e9 les chiffres et je me suis laiss\u00e9 influenc\u00e9 par mes intuitions.<\/p>\n<p>Il n&rsquo;y avait pas de<strong> statistiques fiables<\/strong>\u00a0montrant\u00a0qu&rsquo;un vote allait l&#8217;emporter sur l&rsquo;autre. Au final, l&rsquo;\u00e9v\u00e8nement \u00e9tait <strong>charg\u00e9 d&rsquo;\u00e9motions<\/strong> et impliquait une tr\u00e8s<strong> grande diversit\u00e9 de participants<\/strong> (72% de votants).<\/p>\n<p>La combinaison de tous ces param\u00e8tres rendait toute pr\u00e9vision tr\u00e8s difficile, voire impossible.<\/p>\n<p>Je ne ferai pas de commentaire sur le r\u00e9sultat du r\u00e9f\u00e9rendum, mais je terminerai\u00a0simplement par ceci :<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>les gens<strong> d\u00e9cident avec leurs \u00e9motions<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>ils utilisent les <strong>faits et les donn\u00e9es uniquement pour justifier<\/strong> leurs d\u00e9cisions<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Justement, pendant cette campagne, les deux camps n&rsquo;ont pas r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 fournir des donn\u00e9es pr\u00e9cises et des \u00e9l\u00e9ments factuels de qualit\u00e9 pour rassurer les \u00e9lecteurs sur leur choix. Ils ont \u00e0 peine essayer de les convaincre pour les laisser en plein <strong>paradoxe du choix<\/strong>.
