Convertize, a self-funded company, was established in 2011 by Philippe Aimé who has been developing websites since 1998 and has a passion for consumer psychology. Later, Jochen Grünbeck added his expertise by searching for ways to make online experiences more human. As they say in their most recent book Smart Persuasion:
“Marketing trends come and go, but our brains are here to stay.”
In the early days of the company, Convertize focused on providing acquisition campaigns for B2C and B2B websites. However, these campaigns faced an obstacle:
“We quickly found that the only way to optimize Ads and web content was to combine our approach with A/B testing. The problem was that most A/B testing solutions were too complex for marketing teams” - Philippe
To address the problem, Convertize decided to build its own solution. In 2015, this A/B testing software was made available for any marketing team or agency to buy.
Following the launch of Convertize, the company has explored a number of new ways to improve Customer experience with technology. In 2017, Nudgify was created.
“Nudgify is a Social Proof app that helps websites to increase trust and sales. Subtle notifications (nudges) create an emotional response and encourage visitors to act. Nudgify transforms online experiences into – real-life – engaging experiences.” - Jochen
Nudgify began on Shopify and has since evolved into a stand-alone solution for any website.
In 2018, Convertize relocated to its current premises in Hammersmith, London. This new headquarters provides the perfect working environment for a multinational and professionally diverse company. Crucially, it provides plenty of space for the Convertize team to grow.
